Camden County High School Exceeds State and National SAT Averages
For the third year in a row, Camden County High School students outperformed their counterparts in
the nation’s public schools on the SAT, recording a mean score of 1061, thirty-one points higher
than the mean for U.S. public schools. Camden students also outperformed their state and national
counterparts on both the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (ERW) and Math portions of the test.
The SAT is an entrance exam recognized by most colleges and universities to make decisions
regarding student admission. The exam, which is administered by The College Board, is a way
colleges and universities may measure a student’s readiness for college and allows schools to
compare applicants using one common data point. Overall, the higher a student’s score on the SAT,
the better positioned they are for college acceptance and scholarship opportunities.
When asked to comment about the recent news, Dr. Steve Loden, Principal of Camden County High
School, commented, “Despite the challenges faced by the Class of 2020, their recent score release
from The College Board, reflects the dedication of these students and their teachers to prepare
them for success after high school. We are very proud of their shared achievements and look forward
to hearing more great things from them in the future.”
